The solder has a m-42 Musket and accouterments. In the photo is scratched lightly directly into the image “John Blase Co. C 37th O (Ohio) Reg” (Regiment). The patriotic case has a United States flag on the outside cover. The photo has an impressive presentation research binder with 100 pages of war records, genealogy, and regimental history. Blase was born in 1842 near brown Ohio he was 5/8″ fair completion, light hair, he was a blacksmith by trade before the war. He enlisted 9/14/1861 as a corporal in company C 37th Ohio Infantry He was wounded in the arm at Vicksburg in May of 1863.
