Original WWII Era German NSDAP (Nazi) Party 1937 MAY DAY BADGE Brought Home By A U.S. Veteran. As was common at the time any group or organization holding an event would normally produce a badge or lapel pin to commemorative the event. These badges/lapel pins would be worn by participants, or given away or sold to promote the event or raise funds as required. A 1 3/8″ diameter, cast alloy “tinnie” whose obverse face features a naked boy with a sprig of oak leaves in one hand, the other hand raised in a Nazi salute, standing atop an eagle clutching a wreathed swastika. “1.Mai” is to one side of the figure, and “1937” is to the other. To the reverse, to either side of a vertical pin-back device, is “Robinson” and “Oberstien.” Some wear to the highlights is evident, and some light surface spotting may also be seen. A scarce badge from the early days of Hitler’s power. We have obtained a collection of a few of these and we will pick the best one for you, the maker mark might vary.
