Original WWII German Female RAD Brooch Maker Marked Assmann Certified By The Gettysburg Museum Of History. The female version of the male RAD, Reichsarbeitsdienst, (National Labor Service), was originally established in February 1933 and was considered a sub-section of the National Sozialistches Frauenschaft, (National Socialist Women’s Organization). In April 1936 the female labor service was dissociated with the NS Frauenschaft and was given the official designation, RADwj, Reichsarbeitsdienst der weiblichen Jugend, (National Labor Service for Young females). A finely detailed, 45mm wide and 35mm tall, horizontally oval, injection molded alloy brooch with a silver wash. The brooch features embossed stylized “rope” coils surrounding a central recessed, ribbed, circular field which encompassing an embossed, canted swastika flanked by embossed sheaths of wheat on a pebbled background field.
