Original WWII German Nickle Plated Bayonet For Officer’s And NCO’s Brought Home By A U.S. Veteran Certified. Roughly, 20cm long, nickel/silver plated, drop forged, steel construction blade with deep, fullers to each side and a top edge swedge to the forward tip. The blade is in overall good condition with light scabbard runner marks. The obverse of the blade features an acid etched design with an embossed, bright, nickel/silver plated, national eagle with long, out-stretched wings, clutching a wreathed, canted swastika in it’s talons positioned above the embossed, bright, nickel/silver plated, Maker marked to “Robert Klaas of Solingen”. The leather washer is intact. Stud button functions. The bayonet has a nickel/silver plated alloy, crossguard with one up-swept arm, a flash guard and a stylized eagle head pommel. The bayonet has diamond grooved, molded black bake-lite construction grips which are secured to the hilt by two, small, dome headed alloy rivets. The bayonet comes complete with its original black painted, sheet metal scabbard that retains about 90% of its original black finish. The inserted throat, throat retaining screw and the frog lug are intact. Inserted red felt plug for Artillery. A good but used example with honest wear in excellent condition.
