RARE Original WWII GERMAN Wehrmacht RAILWAY PERSONNEL’S ARMBAND. (Wehrersatzdienststellen Ärmelbinde) Brought Home By A U.S. Veteran Certified. The Army Mobilization Order of March 12TH 1937, introduced a wide variety of armbands that were worn to identify personnel performing specific duties or functions for the Armed Forces. Most of the armbands were worn on the upper left sleeve of uniformed or non-uniformed personnel and were worn only while the individual was performing the specific duty or function identified by the armband. This armband was one of the armbands introduced with the Army Mobilization Order of March 12TH 1937 and was designed for wear by non-uniformed army railway personnel. Of Note: The Reich conscription laws of 1935 dictated that each of the three branches of service would be allocated a percentage of the available recruits according to their manpower requirements with the army being allotted the lions share of roughly 66% of eligible personnel followed by the Luftwaffe who were accorded roughly 25% with the Kriegsmarine receiving the remaining 9% of personnel. Roughly, 10cm tall, 36cm long, screened yellow cotton/rayon construction armband with a black, screened, Wehrmacht style eagle with down-swept wings to the obverse center.
