Remarkable Original WWII German Army (Heer) M-40 (1940) Single Decal Combat Helmet Brought Home By A U.S. Veteran. The stamped, sheet steel construction helmet retains about 85% of its factory applied field-grey textured paint. The left side of the helmet has an Wehrmacht eagle shield decal featuring a eagle with down-swept wings, clutching a canted swastika in it’s talons on a black, shield, shaped base. The decal is retained about 80%. All three liner retaining rivets are all intact. The interior of the helmet has a M31, tan, leather liner with all but one eight of its original fingers intact. The liner is a bit salty and combat used but still good. It has the original lace holding the leather fingers. The original chin strap has part of one side (see pics and the other side is missing. The reverse, interior, neck guard apron has a faint, stamped serial number “D112”, and the manufacturer’s code and size, “NS64”. size 64. Nice clean Combat used M42 that has never been messed with at all. This is a truly amazing untouched real combat used helmet that has never been restored or altered. Just like we like to find them.
