Very Rare Original WWII Period Porcelain Bastogne Roadsign Certified By The Gettysburg Museum. An original WWII period Belgian made road directional sign. The sign was for distance of a major road of the distance between the current location to the city of Bastogne. The sign is manufactured in country from a thick sheet metal enameled in white and blue. Double sided. Dimensions: 30x120cm. Several mounting holes are present along the top and bottom. The sign has been exposed to the elements. Shows natural use and some flaking along the front. This particular sign was sourced out of an old collection that was acquired directly from a farmhouse. This example had the front point cut down to make a town entrance sign. A very rare and highly desirable sign for the town made famous by the 101st Airborne Division during the famous Battle of the Bulge. A sign sold at Bonhams for over $40,000.00!
