A stamped brass lead filled  model U.S. box plate and eagle plate that came from the same leather cartridge box and sling. This was recovered at Spanish Fort  battlefield on what was then private property (not National Park land).The Battle of Spanish Fort took place from March 27 to April 8, 1865 in Baldwin County, Alabama, as part of the Mobile Campaign of the Western Theater of the American Civil War.After the Union victory in the Battle of Mobile Bay, Mobile nevertheless remained in Confederate hands. Spanish Fort was heavily fortified as an eastern defense to the city of Mobile. Fort Huger, Fort (Battery) Tracey, Fort (Battery) McDermott, Fort Alexis, Red Fort, and Old Spanish Fort were all part of the Mobile defenses at Spanish Fort.     SOLD Very Nice Untouched Civil War Cartridge Box With It's Original U.S. Box Plate Certified. A very nice leather early war type  cartridge box.  This cartridge box is an example of the "Pattern 1857” infantry cartridge box. Outer flap exhibits some scuffing and minor crazing. Oval “US” box plate is secured to the face of the box. Closing tab is complete and unbroken. Tab is sewn to the underside of the flap. The inner flap  is very nice condition. This flap covers two cartridge tins that no longer remain. This inner flap retains both “ears” that are tightly attached. The implement pouch is present and also in very good condition. The stitching on the body of the box is tight and unbroken.  Belt straps are sewn and riveted.  Brass finial on the bottom.  Iron buckles were sewn both remain tightly attached. The U.S. box plate exhibits a fantastic "attic" patina and has not been cleaned. This plate has always been on this box by the look. If you are looking for a nice untouched cartridge box that has "the look" here it is! An original very early pickup Gettysburg bullet made into a stanhope of the Pennsylvania Monument. Stanhope bullets were made shortly after the Civil War until the early 2oth century.  Shortly after the end of the Civil War, bullets were gathered up from the battlefield stanhope lenses (complete with a variety of images) were ordered from a French manufacturer. The lenses were then locally installed by relic shops. You place the bullet up to your eye and look toward light and the image appears! This artifact is original and  The bullet exhibits nice early picup patina. A prized item for civil war collectors and enthusiasts as well as stanhope collectors.     SOLD Original Civil War Ames 1833 Artillery Short Sword With Early Buff Belt Rig Certified. A fine solid example of the Artillery Short Sword and scabbard. 100% original and complete except the scabbard tip. Blade is very nice markings are very legible. Clearly legible on the blade is the US and JCB inspector stamping and the  date is very well struck with all of the 1833 visible. Other side of blade has the eagle clearly visible and strong . As for the firm marking the “N.P Ames" firm marking is all there. The blade is excellent. The brass handle and guard are excellent. The brass mounted leather scabbard is solid and whole with just some surface crazing in the finish on the leather. The scabbard tip is gone. The White buff rig is excellent the leather is very pliable and moves very easy. No cracks or bad spots at all. Has stampings  inside and the owners name can faintly be seen (see photos). Has some soiling to the all white/buff otherwise excellent. From a very old collection.     Devil’s Den/Slaughter Pen Gettysburg July 2nd 1863. This wood was from the famous Slaughter Pen next to Devil’s Den on the Gettysburg battlefield. Many of the most famous photos of dead soldiers were taken here including the one in this display. The bullet was recovered in Devil’s Den on the Gettysburg battlefield near where the tree stood. Many of the famous death photos were recorded by Alexander Gardner.  All Gettysburg relics were obtained before it was national Park and are 100% legal to own. There will be no more bullets or relics from this area because relic hunting is now prohibited. The tree was removed from the battlefield by tree cutters and we obtained the wood legally from this source. A wonderful and rare set. This display comes matted and framed in a Riker display (collectors glass case). Mat color may vary. Great size 8″/12″ Comes museum documentation (COA).
