Vlogger, Historian

Chris Mowery is the creator and host of the popular YouTube channel Vlogging Through History, a multi-platform educational enterprise dedicated to making the past accessible and engaging for a global audience. Guided by the philosophy that history is more than just names and dates, Chris focuses on the compelling human stories behind the events, from the experiences of private soldiers to the lives of presidents. Through a dynamic mix of on-location vlogs from historic sites across the globe, expert commentary on historical media, and interactive live streams, he has built a community of over half a million subscribers on his main channel alone. As a respected public historian and a member of the Gettysburg History Council, Chris combines scholarly integrity with modern media savvy to bring the forgotten stories of our past to life for a new generation. He is currently writing Trumbull County Boys, the story of Company H, 20th Ohio Volunteers in the American Civil War.  When he’s not talking about history, Chris is a father of three and an avid fan of soccer and musical theater.
