    Original Antique 19th Century Antler Handled Bowie Knife With Leather Sheath

    Original Antique 19th century Period Antler Handled Bowie knife With Leather Sheath. The blade is very fine  steel about 4″.  This knife looks Civil War period but was also produced after the Civil War so it is impossible to date exactly. There is a text mark on the blade Cutlery Company Sheffield England. The stag antler handle is very nice and it has a silver cross guard. The blade has some old pitting. The sheath is antique and  does seem to be original to the knife. A very nice 19th century knife. A favorite of both Confederate and Union soldiers during the Civil War. Most likely made for use on horse back as a kind of stock-less carbine. This is the largest Civil War period pistol we ever had and is defiantly an oddity. We placed a Philadelphia Derringer in one of the photos for size reference (the derringer is not included) this offer is for the large pistol only. It is heavy and massive! There are no maker marks or stamps. It has an excellent working cap and ball system with very tight lock. Both half cock and full cock work well. .50 caliber rifled barrel.  Original wooden ramrod is included. Both Confederate and Union soldiers during the Civil War used horse pistols.     SOLD Very Rare VMM Volunteer Maine Militia Full Size Excavated Cartridge Box Plate. A scarce and very desirable Civil War 1861 Maine state box plate. These were issued to the very early Maine Volunteers and were replaced later with standard U.S. plates. The older Vet's coveted these plates and wore them throughout the Civil War. This is excavated (dug) plate with a deep green patina and some loss due to a shovel strike by the digger. Both hooks are gone. This plate was very difficult to photograph due to the deep patina. It look much better in person. The recovery location is unknown but is most likely Virginia.     SOLD Original Civil War Colt Army Revolver Low Number Excellent Action. Original Civil War Model 1860 Army Revolver with serial number 6144 puts it at an 1861 manufacturer date. This gun was re-blued then stripped. It is has a bare finish and a light patina. This gun was used as a live fire shooter by a NSSA (North South Skirmish Association) member's shooting pistol. Is has new grips and a target sight added. The numbers were lost in the re-bluing and striping process then re-added. Basically this gun was altered into a shooter for someone who really wanted to seriously shoot an original Colt. You can clearly see where the wood grew around this bullet meaning this was from a living tree not a fence post or wood from a building.   Also note the black area that is sap that seeped and dried, this was the tree responding to the trauma of the bullet strike.     Exquisite Outstanding GAR Past Commanders Solid Gold Presentation Medal. This is by far the best GAR medal we have had. It is a solid gold jeweler made engraved in a presentation coffin case. It was presented to Newton E. Brett of the 3rd New York Light Artillery. Brett was the commander of Post #573 GAR (Grand Army Of The Republic) in Chicago Illinois. The medal was presented on January 13, 1920 . The gold weight alone makes this a very valuable artifact. Medals like these rarely are offered. In  Working good condition Civil War period boot pistol This was most likely imported for the U.S. market during the Civil War.
