Original WWII German Hitler Youth Knife Certified. The origins of the Hitler Jugend, (Hitler Youth), may be traced back to March 1922 with the formation of the Jugendbund der NSDAP, Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei, (Youth League of the National Socialist German Worker’s Party), under control of the SA, Sturm Abteilung, (Storm/Assault Detachment). In April 1924 the Jugendbund der NSDAP was renamed Grossdeutsche Jugendbewegung (Greater German Youth Movement), and on July 4TH 1926 the Grossdeutsche Jugendbewegung was officially renamed Hitler Jugend Bund der deutschen Arbeiterjugend, (Hitler Youth League of German Worker Youth). The HJ Fahrtenmesser, (Hike/Camp knife), was introduced in early 1933 and was the first blade sidearm to be officially sanctioned by the NSDAP. Of Note: Although the HJ camp knife was the first, officially sanctioned, blade, side arm the SA dagger was the first, officially sanctioned, dagger. Originally the camp knife was intended for wear by all HJ members regardless of rank. This is a nice example of the classic later-period  pattern Hitler Youth Knife . These were given to boys who were educated in the paramilitary organization, which they often continued to carry into their military service. Transitional Model 1933 Hitlerjugend Fahrtenmesser by RZM M7/11 1941 – K & Co of Solingen. The blade on this one looks good but sharpened stamped deer heads “K. & Co Solingen”, “Ges. Geschützt” patent mark and “RZM M7/11 1941” maker mark are all crisp and beautifully executed. It has a solid fit and a perfect tip. The blade rates Very good. It has obvious evidence of cleaning with surface scratches throughout, it also shows minor age greying throughout. The original brown leather buffer pad continues to remain intact. The steel based black enamel painted scabbard looks great.  they covered the reverse leather and two rivets. It retains 75% paint coverage and remains dent free. The folded over brown leather strap retains all of its and the snap continues to work well! The inside of the leather is period repaired see photos’ The leather is in good used  condition! The hilt is constructed out of a steel base that has been nickel-silver plated. it apreas to have been cleaned. The scabbard t is personalized “D.F. .”. The plating remains in nice condition, being 45%+ intact. The two black checkered bakelite grip plates are in good condition with one crack (see photos). To the center obverse of the grip has a HJ diamond with 92%+ enamel remaining. A solid example. A fair used example showing the expected minor age and wear overall fair condition. .
