VERY RARE AND HISTORIC Rudolf Hess Signed (Hand Autographed) Photograph Certified By The Gettysburg Museum Of History. RUDOLF HESS (1894-1987) Nazi German Deputy Fuhrer and second in command after Goring, Hess was one of Hitler’s closest confidantes and friends. In an unauthorized peace mission, Hess flew a German fighter to England and surrendered, purportedly attempting to ally Germany with Great Britain against Russia. His mission, of course, failed and Hess was imprisoned at Spandau where he was found hanged in 1987. Original Signed Rudolf Hess Photograph with Covering Letter Munich / Berlin, 1936 Original period signed portrait photograph of Rudolf Hess, accompanied by its original official NSDAP transmittal letter, dated 5 May 1936. The photograph shows Hess in formal attire and bears his original ink signature, applied at the time of issuance. The image was forwarded with a typed letter on official National Socialist German Workers’ Party letterhead from the office of the Deputy of the Führer, with references to both Berlin-Wilhelmstraße and the Munich “Brown House” (Braunes Haus). The letter, signed by an adjutant (“Winkler”), explicitly states that the enclosed photograph with the requested signature is being forwarded to the named recipient, a young woman in Munich, providing direct contemporary provenance linking the signature to the document. The enclosure notation (“Anlage”) confirms the photograph as part of the original mailing. Dated 1936, this set originates from the period when Hess held peak political authority as Deputy Führer and chief intermediary between Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party apparatus. The survival of both the signed portrait and its official covering letter together is uncommon and significantly enhances historical and documentary value.  National Socialist German Workers’ Party Berlin-Wilhelmstrasse 64 German Workers’ Party Munich – Brown House The Deputy of the Führer Adjutant Wi./Wö. 5 May 1936 To the Young Woman Anni Kling Munich Guntherstrasse 29 It gives me pleasure to be able to forward to you enclosed the photograph of the Deputy of the Führer, bearing the requested signature.
