Historic Betsy Ross 13 Star U.S. Flag Made By Her Great-Granddaughter In 1916
$1,999.00Historic Betsy Ross 13 Star U.S. Flag Made By Her Great-Granddaughter In 1916. These flags were made and sold to raise money for the Betsy Ross House in the Early 2oth century. It is an antique copy of the Flag made for General Washington by Betsy Ross in Philadelphia in 1776. This flag is signed by Sara Wilson Betsy Ross's Great Granddaughter. This one is direct signed on the flag. Many examples were signed on pieces of paper attached with pins and are almost always long gone. Direct signed examples are much more valuable. The stripes of the flag are constructed of silk ribbon that is hand-sewn with the kind of remarkable precision seen in the best early needlework examples. The five pointed, wheel-spoke stars are embroidered in silk floss on a blue silk canton, and there is a hand-sewn cotton sleeve along the hoist end. The flag is a great size for display about 7"/12". There is a tear at the edge and near the bottom (see photos) also one side is faded from being in an old frame (also see photos) the tears will be almost unnoticeable once placed in a frame. These flags generally sell at auction from $3,500-$6,000. These flags are very desirable to both flag collectors and fall into folk art collecting as well. A stunningly rare piece of American History seldom seen.
