Personally Owned Adolf Wagner’s official silver service, was liberated by a United States serviceman at the close of the Second World War Certified. This platter, along with other pieces from Adolf Wagner’s official silver service, was liberated by a United States serviceman at the close of the Second World War and brought back to the United States as a war souvenir. This substantial silver platter formed part of the official table service of Gauleiter Adolf Wagner, Nazi Party leader of Gau Munich–Upper Bavaria and Bavarian Minister of the Interior. Crafted in solid silver, the platter’s upper surface is finely engraved with the Hoheitszeichen—the state eagle clutching a swastika—executed with precise, crisp detailing befitting its ceremonial and official function. The reverse is engraved with the initials “AW” for Adolf Wagner, providing a clear mark of personal ownership. It bears the German imperial crown and crescent moon silver marks, “835” for silver fineness, and the maker’s hallmark, attesting to its authenticity and quality. Likely used during formal banquets, receptions, and official gatherings, the platter exemplifies the high standard of craftsmanship and symbolic ornamentation typical of the personal silverware of senior Nazi officials, combining utilitarian function with overt political iconography.
