    Original Antique Mid-19th Century Silver Handled Dagger With Leather Sheath Certified

    Original Antique Mid-19th Century Silver Handled Dagger With Leather Sheath. Very nice ornate coin silver handled dirk type dagger. The blade is very fine and very sharp steel about 5". The silver handle is about 4" and has a period repair in the silver (see pics). The ornate tooled leather sheath is in good condition, a bit stiff but nice. This knife is Civil War period but was also produced after the Civil War so it is impossible to date exactly. There is a text mark on the handle but it is unreadable. A favorite of both Confederate and Union soldiers during the Civil War. Many Civil War soldiers carried private purchase “back up” weapons as illustrated in the photos above. 100% guaranteed to be authentic, and unaltered. A dandy authentic side knife. Called “war logs” they are among the most desirable and asked for Civil War relics. A very nice piece!  The wood has grown around the bullet so it was from a living  tree not a fence post or building. When bullets strike living trees the tree continues to grow around the bullet like this one has.  Recovered at the Spotsylvania   battlefield in  Virginia.
