Original German Third Reich Era NSFK Reich Competition Award CASED Table Medal 1938 Certified

Originally instituted in January of 1932, the NSFK, “Nationalsozialistisches Fliegerkorps” (National-socialist Flying-corps), was soon absorbed into the DLV, “Deutscher Luftsport Verband” (German Air-sports Association). In April of 1937 the NSFK was re-established, and, at the same time, the DLV was disbanded. The NSFK was mainly a voluntary organization, with a small cadre of paid personnel, whose mandate was to train its members in the flying of powered aircraft, gliders, and balloons. As it was not an affiliate of the Nazi party, its uniforms were not regulated by the RZM. A large, copper colored table medal, approximately 3 3/4 inches across. The obverse displays the winged Icarus emblem of the National Socialist Flying Corps, the air wing of the Nazi party. The medal carries the designation of “Nationalsozialistisches Fliegerkorps” on top, and “Deutschlandflug 1938” below (National Socialist Flying Corps / German Flight 1938). On the reverse is the raised declaration “Mit unserem Fhrer im gleichen schritt und tritt fliegen wir fr unser ewiges Deutschland”(In equal pace and stride with our Fhrer we fly for our eternal Germany). Beneath this is the serial number of 4860. The medal is contained within a black leather case with a recessed oval that holds the medal. The inside of the lid is printed with the designation of the leader (Korpsfuhrer) of the NSFK, on whose behalf the award was presented. The lid has come off at the seem but still looks good. The overall size of the case is approximately 4 by 4 1/2 inches. The interior of the case shows some age, but the exterior and the medal itself are in excellent condition.  One of the classic SCARCE desirable collector’s items from the third Reich period in used but in good but used condition.
