Original Civil War Remington .44 Caliber Army Revolver (Antique Pistol) Certified By The Gettysburg Museum Of History. Remington model 1858 “New Model Army” Revolver. This excellent, sidearm is an original .44 caliber handgun equipped with a 6-shot cylinder matched to an 8” long octagonal barrel. Grips are original, two-piece walnut in good condition. This revolver retains a good amount  of its original factory bluing on the frame, cylinder, loading lever and barrel. Right side of barrel near muzzle has some holster wear to the finish, but remains smooth. Most of the holster wear is on the barrel area Bore retains good sharp rifling. Sidearm features a brass trigger guard, steel backstrap, and the low hammer spur with numerous sub-inspector marks on the weapon. All original nipples. Barrel marking reads, “PATENTED SEPT. 14, 1858 / E. REMINGTON & SONS, ILION, NEW YORK, U.S.A. / NEW MODEL.” The patent date part has been affected by holster wear but the rest is readable. Mechanics are Excellent and good strong spring and action! This Remington New Model Army revolver is a nice representative sidearm of the Civil War. Original Civil War Period A classic Civil War period pistol and A choice functioning display gun. A favorite of both Confederate and Union soldiers during the Civil War. Many Civil War soldiers carried private purchase “back up” weapons as illustrated in the photos. This gun is 100% guaranteed to be authentic, and unaltered. A fantastic functioning display piece. Complete museum documentation (COA) provided. This is a pre-1898 antique gun so no federal registration is required. Although this is a working gun we do not recommend firing antique guns.
