SOLD

Original Almost Mint WWII JAPANESE PILOT’S FLOTATION FLAG Certified RARE!  74cm x 100cm, fine white silk flag with a 60cm diameter red “Himaru” printed to its center. Short, white cotton tie-cords are to two of its corners, where triangular reinforcements may also be seen, and a tunnel loop runs along all of its sides, within which are evenly distributed sections of buoyant kapok (the same material used in their life-jackets). We placed a helmet on the flag for a size reference. A very small tear  to the silk material, and some very light stains otherwise almost mint! Of Note: Used as a marker for downed airmen, these light weight, thin silk flags required almost no space to store, and were normally carried in the special pocket found to the lower right front panel of most life-jackets. Rare.  100% Guaranteed to be authentic and is certified by The Gettysburg Museum Of History and comes with our Museum COA (certificate of authenticity). A rare piece of WWII history. DO NOT MISS THIS! One of the better ones we have seen, excellent, Almost Mint! FLOAT FLAGS ARE RARE!!!!
