Original WWII Japanese HAND PAINTED NATIONAL FLAG WITH KANJI And FAN Brought Home By A U.S. Veteran Certified. Most Japanese troops during the second world war carried a personal flag. They had practical as well as patriotic uses, such as marking positions to keep them safe from friendly aircraft while advancing. One piece painted on an handkerchief this example is 28cm x 38cm. An approximately 12cm diameter red “Himaru” is hand painted to the center of the flag’s white field.  Handwritten, in black, around the Himaru and on the Himaru are numerous kanji characters. ! We placed a helmet on it for size reference. Also has a dragon A very interesting flag. Shows the expected age and use a few small tears (see photos) in good  condition a few spots otherwise good  condition and it’s very displayable and could be framed and it would look nice. With a Japanese flag fan that came with it! This could be a so called “see bee” flag that was painted by US soldiers but it seems to be too high quality for that. 100% Guaranteed to be authentic and is certified by The Gettysburg Museum Of History and comes with our Museum COA (certificate of authenticity).
