VERY RARE Bernard Rust (Nazi Ministry of Education) Personal Silver Knife Brought Home By A U.S. Veteran. Bernard Rust (Ministry of Education) Dinner Knife. Bernard Rust (1883 to 1945). Minister of Science, Education and National Culture (Reichserziehungsminister) in Nazi Germany. A combination of school administrator and zealous Nazi, he issued decrees, often bizarre, at every level of the German educational system to immerse German youth in Nazi ideology. He also served as the party Gauleiter in Hanover and Brunswick from 1925 to 1940 Reportedly committed suicide on 8 May 1945, when Germany surrendered to Allied forces. Knife from Bernhard Rust’s German Higher Education table service. Marked “Dh” below the national eagle on the front. “Dh” is for “Deutsche-Hochschule”, or German Higher Education, his official state pattern. Marked “BR. HENNEBERG BM” with scales and “90” on the reverse. Approx. 10″ long. This piece was taken by a U.S. Soldier during WWII as “Loot” or “Trophy of War”.
