Shop original 1939 Iron Cross medals for sale, the Second World War issue of Germany’s best-known decoration. The 1939 pattern carries the swastika at its center and the year 1939 on the lower arm, and was awarded in two grades: the Iron Cross Second Class (EK2), worn from a black, white and red ribbon, and the Iron Cross First Class (EK1), a pin-back cross worn on the left breast.
Wartime crosses were made by dozens of licensed makers, so the pieces here range from unmarked early examples to maker-marked and cased awards, along with the 1939 Clasp (Spange) issued to First World War veterans who earned the cross a second time. Each one is an original period award examined and certified by the museum, and most came home with U.S. veterans.
