    Original Civil War Shoulder Scales Early Pickup From The Belle Plains Area Certified By The Gettysburg Museum Of History. Shoulder scales were used mostly by Cavalry, Artillery, and Heavy Artillery. In excellent "early pickup condition. One of the two uniform mounts are still intact. Recovered from the Belle Plains, Virginia (sometimes spelled as Belle Plain) area was a steamboat landing and unincorporated settlement on the south bank of Potomac Creek off the Potomac River, in Stafford County, Virginia. In the early 19th-century, Belle Plains served as landing for steamboats to Washington, D.C. The landing and its hotel were in turn was serviced by stagecoaches running to and from nearby Fredericksburg, Virginia where passengers would connect with the Richmond, Fredericksburg, and Potomac Railroad.  Bell Plains and Potomac Creek fell by the wayside when the railroad bypassed them, reaching Aquia Landing on Aquia Creek as its terminus wharf in 1842.Belle Plains again rose to prominence during the American Civil War, where it was used as an alternate supply point to Aquia Landing by the Union Army of the Potomac.     Confederate "WishBone" Belt And Buckle From The Battle Of Gettysburg William Ziegler Collection. A Civil War black leather belt with Confederate altered buckle made from a U.S. "puppy paw" buckle with it's face taken off making a "wishbone" buckle. It was common practice for Confederate troop to use captured Yankee equipment and altered items. This is a very early Gettysburg battlefield pick-up from the William Ziegler collection. Ziegler was a Civil War Veteran and picked up many items from locals very early. He had a livery service in Gettysburg and his business partner was an early battlefield guide.     Original Civil War U.S. Plate Recovered On Little Round Top Gettysburg 20th Maine Area. A Very nice early pick up (Pre-National Park) both hooks gone. The plate has a beautiful chocolate brown patina . It is very solid in early battlefield pick up condition with very little wear other than the brown patina, very mild pitting. This plate was found at Little Round Top in the 20th Maine area. Little Round Top is the most iconic spot on the Gettysburg battlefield and was where the 20th Maine rallied against the Confederate Alabama troops after Sickles advance on July 2, 1863. It was also where massive causalities were accrued on July 2nd. A very historic area and a remarkably rare U.S. box plate. Relics from this area rarely come up for sale. Comes with a deaccession letter from the Gettysburg Museum of History documenting the provenance of this artifact. Originally recovered by legendary old time relic hunter Al Flickinger.     Magnificent Confederate Belt Buckle With Old Ink Tag Recovered By Legendary Relic Hunter And Author Bill Gavin. Found by the man who literally wrote the book on belt buckles. An earlier recovered Confederate roller belt buckle in relic condition, the tongue still moves! This buckle was found at Spotslyvania Court House at General Ewell's line. It has a great old ink tag written by Bill Gavin. Gavin started hunting with early metal detectors in the 1940's. He is considered the founding father of Civil War relic hunting with metal detectors. This plate was found at Powers Hill (Granite Schoolhouse Road) this was a Union artilerry platform during the battle of Gettysburg.  A very historic area and a remarkably rare breast plate. Relics from this area rarely come up for sale. Comes with a deaccession letter from the Gettysburg Museum of History documenting the provenance of this artifact. Originally recovered by legendary old time relic hunter Al Flickinger. It has the number tag "6"and "Power's Hill" in ink, this corresponds with Mr. Flickinger's notes. This plate was originally sold by us and it was recently bought back along with a few other items from this collection.  A historic museum piece, A well documented authentic example from Gettysburg.

    Authentic U.S. Eagle N.C.O. Breast Plate Recovered At The First Corps Hospital Gettysburg Battlefield.  Very nice early pick up (Pre-National Park) three hooks are  broken. The plate has a beautiful chocolate brown  and slightly green patina . This plate was found at the First Corps Hospital site (White Church Road and Baltimore Pike this was the hospital site in July 1863.  A very historic area and a remarkably rare NCO  breast plate. Relics from this area rarely come up for sale. Comes with a deaccession letter from the Gettysburg Museum of History documenting the provenance of this artifact. Originally recovered by legendary old time relic hunter Al Flickinger. It has the number "13" and "1st Corps Hosp" in ink, this corresponds with Mr. Flickinger's notes. This plate was originally sold by us and it was recently bought back along with a few other items from this collection.  A historic museum piece, NCO plates are especially rare. A well documented authentic example from Gettysburg.

    Authentic U.S. "Puppy Paw" Belt Plate Recovered At East Cavalry Field Gettysburg Battlefield.  Very nice early pick up (Pre-National Park) with all  hooks. The plate has some edge loss and  has a very nice chocolate brown  and slightly green patina . This plate was found at the East Cavalry Field  that saw fiece fighting on July 3rd  1863. This is the area where General Custer fought Confederate General JEB Stuart. Most U.S. Cavalry used eagle sword plates so this could very well be a Confederate used plate worn upside down.  A very historic area and a remarkable box plate. Relics from this area rarely come up for sale. Comes with a deaccession letter from the Gettysburg Museum of History documenting the provenance of this artifact. Found by one of the old time well-known diggers, all recovery information  will be provided in the museum letter.
