This piece was taken by a U.S. Solider the type like in the book by  Dr. Mark Griffith collection who wrote 2 books on Hitler and Third Reich silver. This piece has the proper maker mark for this piece.  This piece was recovered in the basement bomb shelter of the Berghof. The Berghof was Hitler’s home at the Obersalzberg Mountain near Berchtesgaden. This item along with several other items was “liberated” in May 1945 by a U.S. Solider.
