Original Herman Goering Signed (Autographed) Document 1936 Certified By The Gettysburg Museum Of History. Herman Goering (1893 – 1946) German politician who began his career as an ace in World War I, rose to become Hitler’s right-hand man and head of the Luftwaffe, finally captured and committed suicide on the eve of his execution.  D.S. (Document Signed) as Reichsminister Of The Luftwaffe, Third Reich Luftwaffe Promotion Certificate, 1936 – Signed by Hermann Göring Formal two-page appointment and promotion document issued “In the name of the Führer and Reich Chancellor”, dated Berlin, 14 May 1936. The certificate appoints Martin Altermann, then a charakterisierter Oberleutnant der Reserve, serving with the Fliegerhorstkommandantur Quedlinburg, to the rank of Hauptmann (E) in the Luftwaffe, effective 1 March 1936, with seniority dated 1 October 1933. Executed in traditional Gothic calligraphy, the document features the embossed Reich eagle seal and is hand-signed by Hermann Göring in his capacity as Reich Minister of Aviation and Commander-in-Chief of the Luftwaffe. The left page contains the standard Reich legal certification text affirming loyalty, duty, and the “special protection of the Führer and Reich Chancellor,” while the right page details the personal appointment. A well-preserved and visually striking example of early Luftwaffe officer promotion documentation, combining high-ranking signature, official seals, and period-correct presentation—representative of the bureaucratic and ceremonial style of the pre-war Third Reich.
