Original Rare WWI German Field Honor Badge Certified. Creation: A veterans’ association based in Hamburg, Germany, introduced the badge in 1923 during the Weimar Republic. Eligibility: It was meant for any former soldier who fought in the Imperial German military between 1914 and 1918. Application Process: Veterans had to submit a written application detailing their wartime combat experience to verify their service. Unofficial Status: The German government did not officially sanction or issue the badge.
