Original 19th Century ANTIQUE PEWTER POCKET FLASK WITH SCREW-ON TOP G. & J. W. HAWKSLEY SHEFFIELD ENGLAND Certified. Antique pewter and rather flat pocket flask having a screw-on top. The flask has a rectangular shape with canted corners and flat ends. The top half of the flask comes off to reveal the opening of the flask which is on the end of a short neck and has a screw-on cap. The cap as well as the inside of the top cover are marked as to the maker. The flask has a short neck which is threaded on which a round cover or cap screws on to close the flask. This is of course is a pocket flask to hold alcoholic beverages, most probably whisky and was made in Sheffield England by G & J. W. Hawksley most likely mid to late 1800s.The piece has a nice gray age patina and wear to the exterior surface commensurate with its age and utilitarian function. It is marked on top of the screw on lid “G. & J. W. Hawksley” and is also marked “C; G. & J. W. Hawksley” on the inside of the top lid.  Many times, these are sold as Civil War, but they are most likely post war. See the photo This flask is 100% guaranteed to be authentic. A nice display piece.
