Original Antique Civil War Period 1857 William S. Butler All-Cast 41. Cal Percussion Cap And Ball Pistol Certified. Very scarce! This is the only (all-cast) metal boot pistol manufactured. Circa 1857. All open-piece cast iron frame and long bag shaped handle made integral. The patent relief marking would be cast on the right side of the frame: “WM. S. BUTLER’S PATENT / PATENTED FEB. 3, 1857″… where the small plate is located. This particular example is un-legible. A legible example is shown on the last photo. Working order / Overall length 7.25 Inches / 41. Caliber / There is a small hairline crack in the hammer (non-structural) does not affect performance and what appears to be small period repair to the front side cast plate. Very scarce / Civil War era / American made firearm!!! A classic Civil War period pistol and a choice functioning display gun. A favorite of both Confederate and Union soldiers during the Civil War. Many Civil War soldiers carried private purchase “back up” weapons as illustrated in the photos. This gun is 100% guaranteed to be authentic, and unaltered. A fantastic functioning display piece.
