M1839 versions are VERY RARE and seldom dug on hist0rical Civil War battlefields!  Recovered what was then off National Park property and is 100% Legal and 100% authentic. Both of the 2 hooks are bent, with some loss at the top and it looks in good, relic condition. from an old collection. We placed a full size later style common Civil War plate next to the m1839 version for a size comparison. M1839 U.S. plates  are very difficult to find and only come from old collections.
