Original WWII German Army (Heer) PANZER ASSAULT BADGE, BRONZE . (Panzerkampfabzeichen in Bronze) Certified. The Panzer Assault Badge in silver was instituted by Generaloberst Walther von Brauchitsch on December 20TH 1939 for award to all ranks of tank personnel who served as a tank commander, driver, gunner or radio operator and had been involved in three different armored assaults on three different days. The institution order indicated the criteria for award of the badge was to be effective as of January 1ST 1940. Of Note: On June 1ST 1940 a Bronze version of the Panzer Assault Badge was introduced for award to Panzer-Grenadier, medical, and armored car personnel who participated in three different armored assaults on three different days. The numbered Special Grade of the Panzer Assault Badge were awarded with the numerals, 25, 50, 75 and 100. The numbered badges followed the basic design of their un-numbered predecessors but were larger and had the addition of an inset rectangular plate with a numeral to the bottom of the wreath. A great PAB sought-after by many! The Grade II Panzer Assault Badge was awarded to recognize those who had taken part in 25 days of combat. The bronze class was presented to Panzergrenadier regiments, tank assault crew, armored reconnaissance units, and medical personnel who went into battle in armored vehicles. It is a three piece (wreath & eagle, panzer & grass and number shield) die struck, zinc based construction that has been bronze washed. The obverse depicts a centrally placed panzer tank above a grass/log field and is beneath a national closed winged eagle clutching a mobile swastika in its talons. This is all above a soldered on gilded and blackened tombak rectangular “25” number shield and is all surrounded by anoak leaf and acorn wreath. The hollow-back reverse is correctly maker marked “G.B.” (Gustav Brehmer, Markneukirchen). It also shows the correct features including; the soldered on tombak rectangular plate round wire catch, soldered on tombak sheet metal hinge, round wire steel pin and three tombak rivets. The detail throughout the obverse is superb! Take a look at the tracks on the tank and the eagle! It shows typical age wear and spotting throughout. The bronze wash has been absorbed by the zinc. . A great example deserving of your collection!  100% Guaranteed to be authentic . Complete museum documentation (COA) Provided. Please see our other German Medals and Relics From WWII.
