Original German NSDAP (NAZI PARTY) S.A. (BrownShirts) Very RARE Unit Flag Certified. Development of the SA, Sturmabteilung, (Storm Detachment), may be traced back to August 1921 when the first unit was formed to protect NSDAP leaders at party meetings and rallies and to act as opposition to rival political parties. Between its inception and Hitler’s ascension to power in January 1933 the SA had been uniformed, banned, reformed and reorganized. Prior to Hitler’s gaining of power the SA numbered about 300,000 personnel but by December 1933 it had reached a peak of roughly 4,500,000 personnel. A double sided, red cotton flag with a smaller white square sewn to the center. Early Screened  SA eagle  “110” unit marking. The flag measures approximately  20″x 21″ the smaller central measures 13″/13″. Original attachment rope. VERY HEAVY REINFORCED CONSTRUCTION. Possibly for vehicle use. Nice worn and used example showing the expected age and wear. We placed a helmet on the flag for a size reference.  Nice period used flag captured by a U.S. Veteran   and brought home as a war trophy.
