Original Outstanding Original German Third Reich CIGARETTE CARD BOOK “STRUGGLE FOR THE THIRD REICH” Certified. A 24cm x 32cm, cardstock covered, ninety-two page book. Its brown front cover has embossed to it golden eagle atop a golden frame, within which is a color image of the statue atop the Brandenburg gates, flying a swastika flag, with “Kampf um’s Dritte Reich” (Struggle for [the] Third Reich) similarly embossed in gold beneath it. “Historische Bilderfolge” (Historical Image-succession) is printed, in gold, to the base of the cover. Its first and third interior pages repeat the title, with a note to the base of third page establishing that the images were selected by Heinrich Hoffmann, and that the text is by an SA “Truppführer”. A 1933 publishing date is to the next page. After a brief forward is a black and white portrait photograph of Hitler, with the body of the work beginning on the page after that. It begins with Hitler’s background, progresses to early party marches and rallies, then addresses different Nazi party organizations and their principal figures, and its concluding chapters concern themselves with “Die Neue Zeit” (The New Time). Most of the accompanying images are 5cm x 6cm, colorized photographs, which had been glued-in by the original owner (this book being one of the “cigarette album” types). All of the cards are included. In addition to the frontispiece of Hitler, four other full page black and white photographs pepper the text. A table of contents is to its last page. It has the name of the U.S. Veteran who brought it home written inside.   Nice example showing the expected minor age and wear overall good condition. Some wear to the spine otherwise almost mint.
