Original WWII German NAVY  M40 SINGLE DECAL HELMET. (Stahlhelm M40) Brought Home By A U.S. Veteran Certified. The stamped, sheet steel construction helmet retains a good portion of its field-grey paint. The left side of the helmet has a Wehrmacht eagle shield decal which is retained about 85%. All three liner retaining rivets are intact. The interior of the helmet has a, tan, M31 leather liner with all eight fingers .  The U.S. Veteran who took it wrote his initials and servive number on the liner. The interior reverse neck guard apron is well marked with a stamped lot number, 10023 “, and the interior left side apron is stamped with the faint, manufacturers code and size, “EF64”, indicating manufacture by indicating manufacture by Emaillierwerk, AG Fulda, size 64. Partial, part of the original chinstrap remains. Nice worn and used example showing the expected age and wear. This rough out style Finnish was most likely worn by the coastal artillery Navy battery soldiers who manned the Atlantic Wall. Many of these type helmet came from Normandy and the defenses there. The eagle shield is the NAVY type with gold flake in the decal. It is very difficult to photograph but is very viable in person especially in natural light.  Nice untouched helmet..
